Who’s behind all this?

I’m a software developer by day and have had an interest in social justice topics for a while – at the moment I poke around Geek Feminism and free software, and in 2008 I helped set up the Bin the Bike Ban campaign to reverse the ban of bicycles on metro trains in Melbourne. Last year my friend Diana was co-hosting 3CR‘s Friday Breakfast and she invited me to have a monthly “geek spot” to talk about some topical geeky issue with a social justice bent. Through this I have come to learn more about 3CR, community radio and its history in Australian activism. Previously I thought radio was dead, irrelevant, unimportant… not anymore. I think there’s great potential for activisty people in the community radio space and the online space to learn from each other and share resources.
